When the unquiet dead rise from their graves to feast on the flesh of the living, what will be your favorite sword? Pics please! _________________ "Then one night as my car was going backwards through a cornfield at 90mph I had an epiphany..."

Of course my deva-slayer.

| I must confess it would likely be either my 18inch Ang Khola Khuks from Himalyan Imports or maybe the 21 inch Sirupati, same shop. |

Something sturdy, with a good chopping blade. The thing is, the walking dead have no limit on the adrenaline they can pump into their rotting bodies, nor do they have to worry about the built-in limiters us breathing folk have on our own physical strength to prevent us from ripping our muscle and bone structure apart. That makes for some heinously strong opponents.
So yea, de-limb them as fast as you can.
Something like a nice messer or falchion would do the trick, I think. Sadly my pic folder isn't full of em just now. _________________

| Is it the group consensus that poking them with sharp objects is less effective that hewing them into Zombie Nuggets? |

Since I've talked about this on the interenet...
My prefered sword would be something like a gladius or a good saex. Multipurpose, but I don't want to combine an eatin' knife with a zombie knife if you know what I mean. Short and stout with some cutty and stabby. Shortsword because if I'm HTH with zeds, I want to be in a corner or hall or on my way out from a window or door. Cutty because it is how I was trained in the SCA but stabby for CQ and zed brain destroying.
My real preferred ZPAW weapons would be a decent carbine and some ammo with a decent pistol and the training to go with it and a good pair of boots to run in (which I sorta already have - no looting from me!) |

I looked at the issue again. I'm leaning to the Tinker NSFK-V he built. The very pointed blade would do well to drive into the eye socket, roto rooter around and take care of that whole brain issue.
Or swing the Khuk and just lob the head off. |

I dunno- I'd like a little more reach than that! Naturally I lean towards a longsword and it doesn't have to be very heavy; Zombies are sort of pre-tenderized... (ick!)
Naturally a high-capacity pistol and rifle (carbine?) would be essential, but the question here is about swords... _________________ "Then one night as my car was going backwards through a cornfield at 90mph I had an epiphany..."

I'm just remembering many events were I wore my viking sword and realized, "Whoa, carrying this thing is a major pain in the behind ... well, mostly the back of my leg and anything else that scabard slapped up on while I walked around."
You're right though, this is about swords. For full sized I'd go with a falchion of some kind. Still want some stabby with that but the chopping would be good and I won't feel bad using it to hack at debris and stuff to blaze a trail or something.
A falcata? Never handled one myself. How are those at stabby? Any thrust capabilities at all? |

| Anyone ever tested a short-shafted hewing spear against a horde of zombies? It seems like, to avoid infection, reach is essential. The ability to sever limbs and decapitate is preferable to poking little holes in each zombie as it enters your kill zone, and, of course, a lightweight weapon is ideal to avoid fatigue and maximize the speed advantage of the living. |

If I had Phalanx with me....
I thought "spear" too awhile ago and considering how zombies are kind of grabby you might just lose it real quick. Against one though it'd be pretty good. |

How about a four-foot long haft with about 2 feet of nice, broad blade? _________________ "Then one night as my car was going backwards through a cornfield at 90mph I had an epiphany..."

Make that a 5 foot shaft please, and waxed for protection as well.
Maybe a real nice pump 12 with Buck and Ball. And a good long hafted ax. _________________ "Do not suffer yourselves to be wheedled out of your liberty by any pretences of politeness, delicacy or decency.

That's what I was thinking. Something to keep them away while your teammates reload. |
