CAS/Hanwei
'Tinker Pearce' Production Swords
In July of 2007 I entered into a
collaboration with
the sword manufacturer CAS/Hanwei to produce a new line of
high-quality medieval swords. I designed the swords, produced the
prototypes and provided material and heat-treat specifications.
CAS/Hanwei then produced prototypes for my approval before beginning
production. As the final stage I review each new product line as
it is introduced to insure quality. All of these swords feature
Marquenched
5160 spring steel blades and many feature dismountable hilts, leather
covered wood
scabbards with metal fittings and many other 'premium' features.
Additionally each sword would be offered in both Sharp and Training
Blunt versions designed to handle similarly so that people could
practice with a sword that felt like their cutting sword. We have
since changed this mandate slightly- some swords designed primarily for
the reenactment market will feature permanently mounted hilts with a
period-style peened tang construction and will be offerred as
'reenactment blunts' rather than practice blunts. These swords
blunts will be engineered to meet the requirements of reenactment
societies with a thicker edge and more rounded point.
It has taken over a year to get the first production models due to the
exacting standards and meticulous care needed to produce these swords
but this partnership has now come to fruition with the introduction of
the first models of this new line. CAS/Hanwei and Paul Chen have
shown an unprecedented
commitment to quality and I am proud to be working in partnership with
them. I believe in this product line- so much that I am
offering them for sale on my own web-site.
I am also offering modifications to these swords- see 'Options' below.
Swords are delivered with a composite-cored leather-covered scabbard
with
metal fittings and an Allen Wrench for disassembly. The blades of
these swords are hand-forged so specifications may vary slightly from
sword-to-sword.
All prices are listed in US Dollars.
